Say a Little Prayer

Good Afternoon, Ladies! I hope that you all are well and looking forward to a great season of time in the word and fellowship. I would like to encourage you all to pray for your fellow Discussion Leaders and Apprentices as we are beginning this journey. Here is a list of the names of those leading groups at this time.

I love how the scripture is overflowing with prayers that the Lord has so graciously given to us to lead and guide our prayers. One of my favorite verses to pray is Psalm 1:2-3

"But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."

This passage is full of specific things to take to the Lord in prayer. I would encourage you to memorize this passage and to pray it over yourself and your fellow sojourners during the beginning of our time together.

Father,
You are so beautiful and gracious. You shower us with your abundant blessings daily. You are wrapped in light too beautiful for us to fathom. We stand in wonder and praise that you clothed yourself in flesh so that we could come to you on this day. We ask that you would fill us with delight and hunger for your word. That we would long to meditate on you day and night. That our roots would go deep in you, that we would be planted by your streams of water drinking from your delights. We ask that there would be much fruit that comes forth in this season of study. That lives would be changed by you forever. We thank you that you always do so much more than anything we would be able to imagine! Reveal yourself to us! We give you all the glory and praise forever and ever!! Amen.

1st week housekeeping items

Hello everyone!

I hope your first week of study is going well so far. A few questions have come up and I wanted to take a quick minute to share some admin housekeeping information with you. But keep those questions coming if you need help with anything. Our Team is here to support you!

#1 Please enter your group's weekly attendance in Arena Group Manager by noon each Friday at the latest. Call me if you have any trouble getting started in the system. (415-6931)

#2 Name tags are available for you to use in your meetings. They are kept in the closet in Rm 202 -- help yourself anytime you are at the church. This is also a great opportunity to have your Encourager supply cute, personalized name tags to help create that atmosphere of love.

#3 Please send me the names of the women volunteering for the support roles in your group (admin, encourager, prayer). This will aid the Team in offering assistance to these women willing to serve in your group. The Spiritual Gifts assessments found in your Leader Folder will help the women in your group discover their spiritual gifts so that they can serve in areas of strength.

#4 Please drop off the completed forms from your Leader Folder to the Welcome Counter marked "Attn: Women's Groups" by next week. These forms include: a group roster with all information added and signed photo release forms and completed profile sheets for all group members.

I would also like to fix an error on the co-leader contact list. It has an incorrect email address for Amy Sarin. Her correct email address is: amylsarin@gmail.com.

Ladies, I have a proposed schedule for Discerning the Voice of God for you. But once again--it is not set in stone. I looked at the leader's guide in the back of the book and adjusted it to the 12 weeks!!!! Your group may have a different need one week. That is fine! We have to be FLEXIBLE and let the spirit lead:) We do have extra weeks remember! ANY extra time needs to be spent in prayer and relational activities. Do different prayer activities with them--if you need ideas email Holly and Heather.

August 29-2 Week 1 (introductions, spiritual gifts explanation, prayer, video)

September 5-9 Prayer, fill spiritual gifts roles for group, group discussion of week 1 material), prayer

Sept 12-16 Prayer, complete any discussion from week 1 material, watch week 2 video,prayer

Sept 19-23 Prayer, group discussion of week 2 material, if time watch video 3,prayer

Sept 26-30 Prayer, discussion of week 3 material, watch video 4, prayer

Oct. 3-7 Prayer , discussion of video 4 material, watch video 5, prayer

Oct 10-14 Prayer, discussion of video 5 material, prayer

Oct 17-21 Prayer, catch-up on any weeks not complete in discussion, explain Desert Day in depth

Oct 24-28 Prayer, Desert Day

Oct 31-4 Desert Day reflection, praise, watch video 6

Nov 7-11 Prayer, discuss material from video 6, watch last concluding short video

Nov 14-18 Prayer, group discussion concerning applications/transformations. Maybe share and celebrate your God Stories (learn, live lead model Ezra 7:10

We have an important announcement concerning fall break!!!!

Some of your ladies might be participating in the fall break that goes along with their children's school schedule. We will not be canceling bible study for the week of fall break. Some of your ladies may have to miss if they are going to be out of town that week. This is another great reason to have additional time for a 6 week study:) This question might come up during study group time this week as you look at the following weeks together with your ladies. Hopefully this will help you answer any questions they might have.

Good Afternoon OC women~

Wow what a fantastic, gorgeous weekend. I hope you were able to get out in the weather a bit. It was a glorious gift to freshen us all. I could even feel the crisp beginnings of fall. Today is Monday and study week begins. In preparing for your ladies do not forget about the fasting on Mondays. This reminds us of what Jesus did as He spent time with the father in preparation for all of his days. It is one way He made it through His days I would suppose. We will find power in that!

Remember to refer to your leader's guides for the study outlines. They are thorough and simple and answer so many of the underlying questions we have. Discerning the Voice of God-- leaders's guide is in the back of the study book and God Seeker leaders's guide link is on our blog. You just click on the link to Further still ministries and will find the guide there. Thanks Julie!!! As far as the video and the schedule-- we gave you-remember it is a guideline for you to follow. You are able to make changes that fit the needs of your group. I think the really important thing for you to remember is ANY extra time you have with them in those two hours could be spent in prayer. Get them comfortable taking it straight to the Lord. Some weeks will allow you to do a lot of this. That is one reason we have made it 12 weeks.

What a great night we had together last night. Thank you for coming!!! The PJ's still make me smile:) I know most of you have already ripped into those DVD's. Hello Oldham Ladies 4 God!

Thank You Marcie for hosting our fellowship time last night! The food was wonderful! Thank you to all of you ladies who brought the food! It was all so good!!!

I so enjoyed how Marcie asked us to sit next to someone we didn't know (or know well) :-) and the instructions she gave us for our dinner conversation. I also loved how she then took that "assignment" and had us use it for our introductions! What a great and fun way to get to know one another just a little better! And don't you just love how the Lord had gone before us and "hand picked" who we would sit next too! That was evident in the introductions you shared about one another.

So with keeping that "getting to know you" thought in mind, I would love to create a "Getting to Know You" for us like I have done for mine and Jeannie's small group. I will email you the questions if you would take a few moments to complete and return to me. Please add a picture of your self too. :-). It will be nice to put a face with a name and recognize each other as we cross paths at church etc...

Hello OC Ladies!

Marcie asked me to create a blog for our group and here it is!

Women's Bible Studies begin next week! I am so excited and know you are as well to begin this new journey in what the Lord has in store for each of us!
